Required Knowledge:
- Comprehensive knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, practices, and methods.
- Knowledge of preventative and investigatory techniques; including but not limited to, evidence collection, obtaining witnesses, making arrests and performing follow-up investigations.
- Government budgetary development, administration and control.
- Effective use of police records and their application to police administration and future planning.
- Types and use of equipment required in modem police work.
- Adaptability of data processing, informational storage and referral systems to police problems and service.
- Pertinent Federal and State laws, local ordinances
- Principles of leadership, personnel management, supervision and performance evaluation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred); or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this role.
- Experience in Law enforcement, including five (5) years in a leadership role. Significant command level experience in combination with other executive leadership education and training may be considered in lieu of academic degrees.
- Executive management certificates, including but not limited to the FBI National Academy, Certified Law Enforcement Executive Program (CLEE), completion of coursework at the Southern Police Institute, Northwestern University Center of Public Safety or similar State and/or National programs is desired but not required.
- Extensive experience with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEAL) is desired but not required.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Ohio Peace Officer Training Certification (Required)
- Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
Pay: $120,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
